A distribution centre roughly the size of an MCG field had dead wireless zones between long racking aisles, pick scanners dropping connections, Wi-Fi Yealink phones cutting out, and tracking tags on pick bins losing their signal. We installed 89 Ubiquiti Wi-Fi 7 access points along every aisle, overhead and in pack/dispatch so operations now run smoothly from one end of the shed to the other.

Before Starlink existed, a remote Western Australian mine site was stuck on a 2 Mbps/2 Mbps satellite link. We designed and built a six-hop solar-powered microwave network to a Tom Price business with a 100 Mbps fibre connection, connecting the mine to its head office for the first time at real broadband speeds. The big-T telco wanted $4.6 million to run fibre; our solution was built for $69,000 excluding the existing Tom Price connection supplied by the mining company.

An employment services provider wanted to offer free public Wi-Fi to job seekers and visitors at its four Hobart offices, but needed the network to be secure and protected against misuse. We deployed Ubiquiti UniFi wireless access points and UniFi Cloud Gateway at each office, with a separate Swoop FTTP NBN service at 250/100 Mbps dedicated to guest traffic, plus content and application filtering to keep the service safe and appropriate.

A new 100-room motel needed reliable, fast Wi-Fi in every room and across all guest areas from day one. We designed the network during construction, pre-wiring each room with four network ports back to four comms rooms, then connected every comms room by fibre to a central admin room with Swoop 1 Gbps fibre, Ubiquiti aggregation switches and a UniFi gateway. Each room received an in-wall Wi-Fi 6 access point, with ceiling access points in hallways, lobby, restaurant and outdoor pool and games areas.

Before NBN and Starlink existed, a customer moving into a brand new industrial estate had no copper, no ADSL and no fibre. The incumbent telco quoted $400,000 to install fibre. Instead, we built a point-to-point wireless link to a friendly neighbouring building and bonded two SHDSL connections to deliver 40 Mbps symmetrical for $500 per month. The wireless link is still in place today, upgraded to air fibre, while the SHDSL lines have been replaced with a 1 Gbps FTTP NBN connection.

A mining company had no visibility along its 30 km haul road, so operations could not confirm road conditions, traffic or safety incidents in real time. As part of a broader communications upgrade running fibre from the wharf to the mine and camp, we partnered with a fibre installer to extend fibre the full length of the haul road and build 35 solar-powered CCTV towers. Every tower switch was connected directly back to the fibre backbone — no wireless backhaul was used because the terrain was too hilly, and the fibre was being installed anyway.

Staff were dropping calls and waiting minutes for X-rays to upload. We installed Swoop Enterprise Ethernet 250/250 at the clinic, a Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway and wireless access points, and a point-to-point wireless link to the vet's home office.

A laser steel cutting factory and its head office were 19 km apart and connected only by a slow VPN over NBN. Large production files, CAD/CAM downloads and server access at the factory dragged, and there was no line of sight for a wireless link. We provisioned a dedicated Vocus dark fibre path between the sites and upgraded the office internet to 250 Mbps with WatchGuard firewalls in high availability.

A local print publisher was losing hours every day to slow internet and still collecting email over POP3, which pulled each message onto one computer and left nothing on a server. We installed a 1 Gbps / 400 Mbps Swoop fibre to the premises (FTTP) service and migrated the whole business from POP3 to Office 365, so mail, files and calendars are now identical on every device.
