A closed mining town had no usable telco infrastructure and overloaded 5G, leaving 200 homes and small businesses without reliable internet. We designed and built a private point-to-point wireless network from a hilltop POP to every property.

Before Starlink existed, a remote Western Australian mine site was stuck on a 2 Mbps/2 Mbps satellite link. We designed and built a six-hop solar-powered microwave network to a Tom Price business with a 100 Mbps fibre connection, connecting the mine to its head office for the first time at real broadband speeds. The big-T telco wanted $4.6 million to run fibre; our solution was built for $69,000 excluding the existing Tom Price connection supplied by the mining company.

A mining company had no visibility along its 30 km haul road, so operations could not confirm road conditions, traffic or safety incidents in real time. As part of a broader communications upgrade running fibre from the wharf to the mine and camp, we partnered with a fibre installer to extend fibre the full length of the haul road and build 35 solar-powered CCTV towers. Every tower switch was connected directly back to the fibre backbone — no wireless backhaul was used because the terrain was too hilly, and the fibre was being installed anyway.

A mining company was running 1200 users across 15 on-premise Exchange 2013 servers at its head office and mine sites, with no mobile email, no multi-factor authentication and servers that had long passed end of support. We migrated all 1200 mailboxes to Office 365 in two months, wave by wave, with no email downtime and no impact on 24/7 mine operations.
