You received a phishing or scam email

Do not click, do not reply, and do not forward it to colleagues. Report it, then tell us. If you already clicked a link or typed your password, treat it as an emergency and phone us.

Step-by-step troubleshooting

  1. 1

    Stop interacting with the message

Do not click links, open attachments, scan QR codes or reply. Do not unsubscribe — that confirms your address is live.

  2. 2

    Check the real sender address

Expand the sender to see the full address. Lookalike domains, free mail accounts claiming to be a supplier, and display names that don't match the address are the giveaways.

  3. 3

Verify any payment or bank-detail request separately

If it asks to change bank details, pay an invoice or send gift cards, phone the supplier on a number you already hold. Never use contact details from the email itself.

  4. 4

    Report it

Use the Report Phishing or Report Message button in Outlook if you have one. That sends it for analysis and removes it from your mailbox.

  5. 5

Tell us, and tell colleagues the safe way

Log a ticket or forward it to us only if we ask. Warn colleagues verbally or in chat rather than forwarding the message around the business.

  6. 6

If you already clicked, phone us now

Phone 1300 904 635 immediately. Do not change passwords on the compromised device unless we ask. We will check for inbox rules, forwarding rules, unfamiliar sign-ins and mailbox access, and reset credentials safely.

Contact us straight away if…

  • You entered your password, MFA code or card details.
  • You opened an attachment and something ran, or your machine now behaves oddly.
  • A payment was made or bank details were changed.

Include this in your ticket

  • The sender address and subject line
  • Exactly what you clicked, opened or entered, and when
  • Whether other people received the same message
  • The device you were using at the time
